Sr. Program Manager (R&D)
The Principal Scientist leads other scientists and engineers on Research & Development (R&D) initiatives in materials, design, and process. Focuses on long-term team and business growth. Strategizes, guides and performs innovative research. Interacts with other team members and teams to create new products and systems, improves line efficiency, quality, or enables other projects which add value to Niagara's core business or aids in creating new business directions. Essential Functions

Formulates strategy for R&D growth with long-term focus. Designs and implements new R&D projects in materials, design, or process.
Leads scientific team(s) and allocates resources effectively to ensure project completion in a timely fashion.
Identifies research opportunities based on emerging trends in the industry.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in the area of material science, especially polymers and polymer processing.
Adept at making decisions and handling difficult situations.
Supervises senior scientists engineers, and technicians. Provides opportunities for the overall growth of the team members.
Evaluates project priorities and budget allocations to align with organizational goals.
Develop project proposals with internal and external collaborations.
Ensures project documentation and communication between all stakeholders.
Identifies, initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with suppliers and other external collaborators.
Presents and communicates research results internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications: 10+ Years - Experience in in Materials Science and Engineering, testing and processing field
6 Years - Experience in Position
10+ Years - Experience managing people/projects

Preferred Qualifications: 10+ Years- Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment

Injection molding or blow molding experience. Experience in both is preferred.
Supervisory experience: has managed scientists, engineers, interns, and laboratory technicians.
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and in analyzing and interpreting large sets of data.
Project management: successfully completes projects in a timely fashion.
Oral Communication: speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; demonstrates presentation skills.
Written Communication: writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
Problem Solving: identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Proven experience with analytical laboratory equipment (Material Strength Testers, Rheometers, DSC, IV testers, FTIR, XRD, etc.).
Microsoft Office Products.

Lifting Requirements:
40 lbs. For example, must be physically capable to change injection molds and resin in lab or production equipment.

Physical Demands:
Travel up to 25%. Some work in hot, cold, or confined production environments.
Must be able to operate tools used when changing molds and operating R&D equipment.

Minimum Required: Ph.D in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical engineering and other related fields or equivalent experience

Preferred: Ph.D In Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Materials Science and Engineering exposure. Polymer processing or science and Packaging training.
