Therapist (Associate Level) Addiction Treatment AMFT / ACSW
POSITION PURPOSE The Primary Therapist (Associate Level) provides
individual and group therapy services to clients with substance use
disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Under clinical
supervision, the therapist conducts Chemical Dependency
Evaluations, contributes to treatment planning, and collaborates
closely with the multidisciplinary treatment team to address
clients alcohol and/or drug-related needs. The therapist functions
in accordance with their associate registration and under
appropriate supervision, following all applicable State of
California and Federal regulations, as well as accrediting body
standards. POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters
degree in a behavioral healthrelated field (e.g., Marriage and
Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology). EXPERIENCE
Experience working with chemical dependency and/or dual-diagnosis
populations preferred Internship, practicum, or post-graduate
associate experience accepted LICENSURE / REGISTRATION Registered
with the California BBS as an AMFT or ACSW Eligible and willing to
work under clinical supervision toward licensure SPECIFIC AREAS OF
RESPONSIBILITY Demonstrates foundational knowledge of chemical
dependency and addiction treatment and applies clinical skills to
meet client needs Conducts chemical dependency evaluations under
supervision Provides individual and group counseling focused on
substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions Assists in the
development and implementation of treatment plans and treatment
plan updates in collaboration with the treatment team Documents
services, progress, and clinical interactions in a clear, accurate,
and timely manner in accordance with facility policies,
state/federal regulations, and insurance guidelines Participates in
treatment team meetings, daily staffing's, and discharge planning
discussions Identifies relapse warning signs and collaborates with
clients on relapse prevention strategies Supports clients in
developing measurable, substance-use-related discharge goals and
objectives Shares pertinent clinical information with the treatment
team while maintaining client confidentiality Acts as a liaison
with community agencies and resources related to substance use and
recovery services Collaborates with medical and psychiatric staff
regarding integrated treatment needs Maintains knowledge of program
policies, procedures, and community resources Participates in
in-services, trainings, and continuing education as assigned
Maintains CPR certification (or obtains within required timeframe)
Reports incidents, accidents, and client rights concerns in
accordance with policies and procedures Demonstrates
professionalism, effective communication skills, and appropriate
boundaries Responds appropriately to changing situations and works
effectively under stress Seeks supervision proactively and
incorporates feedback into clinical practice Performs other related
duties as assigned
