Required) Required Qualifications /t - Active California RN License
/t - Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare-Related Field /t - 5–10
years of clinical nursing experience /t - 3–5 years in nursing
leadership/management /t - Prior authorization experience in
ambulatory or health-plan settings /t - Experience managing UM in
California /t - Audit experience in UM /t - Strong analytical,
communication, and leadership skills /t - Proficiency with MS
Office Preferred Qualifications /t - 2–3 years of UM Manager
experience /t - Experience in medical groups, hospitals, or
risk-based MSOs /t - Familiarity with Epic Tapestry and MCG
(training provided) Position Summary The UM Nurse Manager oversees
utilization management operations, ensuring regulatory compliance,
staff performance, and high-quality care delivery. This leader
serves as the subject-matter expert for UM processes, manages
escalations, supports audits, and drives process improvement
initiatives. Key Responsibilities /t - Lead and train UM staff on
medical necessity reviews and authorization workflows /t - Ensure
compliance with federal, state, health plan, and accreditation
standards (URAC, NCQA) /t - Conduct performance evaluations and
support staff development /t - Oversee accurate documentation in
medical management systems /t - Collaborate with hospital teams,
providers, and Medical Directors /t - Monitor referral trends and
inappropriate authorizations /t - Manage complex cases and
high-risk members /t - Support discharge planning and post-acute
coordination /t - Serve as UM SME for clinical criteria (MCG, NCCN,
LCD/LCA, etc.) /t - Participate in UM committee meetings and audits
