The Akamai Inference Cloud team is part of Akamais Cloud Technology Group. We design, implement, deploy and operate AI platforms that enable customers to run inference models and developers to create AI applications with unmatched performance, compliance, and economics. As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will provide strategic guidance, drive objectives and apply extensive knowledge to shape the next generation of AI platforms. Youll work on issues impacting program success and future product directions, The ability to provide strategic technical vision, influence company objectives, and serve as the expert guiding Akamais AI platform success is paramount for this role. As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for: • Defining the technical vision and strategy for Akamai Inference Cloud, guiding architectural decisions that impact teams and products across the organization • Serving as principal technical advisor on AI inference, providing expert guidance on complex issues requiring extensive knowledge and judgment across disciplines • Driving innovation and new ideas in AI platform architecture, researching emerging technologies and establishing best practices for the industry • Influencing company-wide objectives related to AI infrastructure, creating formal networks with key decision makers and serving as external spokesperson • Mentoring principal and senior engineers across the organization, elevating technical capabilities and establishing engineering excellence standards Do what you love To be successful in this role you will: • 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree or its equivalent • Be a recognized expert in AI inference optimization, model serving, and distributed AI systems at massive scale • Demonstrate deep expertise across multiple AI/ML disciplines, including inference frameworks, model optimization, platform architecture, and emerging AI technologies • Show mastery of building production AI platforms with proven track record of architectural decisions impacting multiple products and business outcomes • Possess extensive knowledge of cloud-native technologies at scale, with ability to solve unique problems • Demonstrate exceptional technical leadership, creating networks across the organization, influencing strategic direction, and serving as thought leader internally and externally FlexBase, Akamais Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world.
